A book of 2 halves so to speak*
The 1st half of the book was excellent, Pratchett's strongest showing since Going Postal (though not of the class of the sublime The Truth). The new characters, especiallt Nutt, were interesting and more importantly funny. Indeed I had a little chortle to myself whilst reading on the bus a few times. All in all a strong start.
The 2nd half however I found tailed off considerably, it wasn't bad as such, but didn't live up to the expectations set. Once the *reveal* (if you can call something so obvious and signposted as such) was done and we got into the moral of the story, it just lost it's punch. And i'm not entirely sure what the moral of the story was, surely we've been over this same ground again and again with dwarves, trolls, vampires, zombies, a.n.other race...did we need to play it out once more? Or was I missing some hidden meaning?
So yes, a good book, but one let down at the end by it's own expectations.
*Pun very much intended

I don't tend to buy these books in hardback, but I always enjoy reading them. *NM*
