I know a lot of people like her, but you never see her mentioned in the company of the "Respected" authors. I think this is a travesty. Yes, her books are more readable and no they aren't high fantasy. But they've got a lot of content--plot and otherwise--while still being very readable. Plus she's fully developed her Valdemar world and it's so interesting to see little bits of the world fit together.
I keep meaning to start her joust books, but I'm working on Hobbs right now.

But I only read one of her books...can't even remember the title, just that it was a vampire book. I was so underwhelmed that I never even considered reading anything else of hers!
Could you suggest a specific title/series that is really good? I'm willing to give her another try!
