My point was that, in the spirit of the books not having been faithful to the radio series and the movie not having been faithful to the books, I think it's acceptable for the new book not necessarily to be faithful to Adams's last word on the series (which more literally speaking made clear his intent to write a sixth book so as not to finish the series on such a down note). I don't much like the fact that Colfer opted to create his own story from scratch instead of using Adams's notes on Book 6--heck, I don't much like that Colfer was the one chosen to continue the series--but I'm willing to take the book at face value and give it a shot. I figure I probably won't be disappointed if I go in expecting above-average fan fiction.
