the fact that "book" ends with a velar stop and "gun" starts with another velar stop makes it sort of hard to pronounce (Book Club, coincidentally, also suffers from this defect in spoken English).

We could always just call it "The Gun". Alternately, since Spades trump Clubs, we could call it the Book Spade (or the Book Diamond or Book Heart, for that matter, though the Spade would still trump our gathering in that case).
