Featuring Ken Scholes (Reviews, Giveaways, and Events)

Hello everyone,
From time to time, Rebekah and I will set up special events intended to add to the usual experience of Sci-Fi & Fantasy MB. For October (early November), I decided to feature the work of a newer fantasy author, Ken Scholes. There have been a number of positive reviews in 2009 for Scholes' debut novel, Lamentation. A couple months ago, Larry sent me a box of books that included a collection of Scholes' short stories. I enjoyed the collection, and I decided to pick up Lamentation, which I thought turned out to be a very good first novel.
So, what's going on? Well, the second novel, Canticle, in the series, Psalms of Isaak, is set to be released on October 13 in the US. I decided to contact Ken and TOR to to see if I could set something up for the site.
TOR sent me a copy of Canticle, got it yesterday, to review. They also agreed to give us 3 copies of both Lamentation and Canticle for the purpose of giveaways. The stipulation being, as it always is, TOR will only mail the books to US addresses. (I am considering offering up my copy of Lamentation and possibly Canticle to people outside of the USA)
The Plan:
1. Lamentation Giveaway: We will hold a drawing for the copies of Lamentation by Ken Scholes. If you are interested in winning 1 of the 3 copies of the book, please send me a Noteboard message has the word "Lamentation" as the subject. If you do not have a USA mailing address but hope to win me over to sending you my copy, you can NB me... please indicate where it is that I'd need to send the book. I will hold a drawing by October 16th, so send me that NB by the evening of Thursday, October 15th. I will announce the winners and gather addresses on the 16th.
2. Lamentation Review: I will be reviewing Lamentation either tomorrow, or first thing on the 12th of October.
3. Canticle Review: I will be reviewing Canticle as soon as I finish reading it, sometime next week.
4. Lamentation Book Club/Canticle Giveaway: We will be holding an informal Lamentation book club either the first or second week of November. I will decide on a specific date soon. Everyone who participates in that book club will be eligible and entered into the Canticle giveaway. (3 books to US addresses, and possibly my book to someone from anywhere else)
5. Other things? Maybe an interview or comments from Ken Scholes, or maybe a review of some of Scholes' short stories. We'll see.
So, there you go. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply.

Your reviews and interviews with Ken are what ultimately got me to check out his work.
