at least there is progress?
The question is now can he finish it for the much-hoped-for spring 2010 publication date? And I think the answer to that is maybe not. He's written (or finalised, perhaps not quite the same thing) another 100 MS pages in a month, which is encouraging. If 1200 is still the target, than that is obviously even more encouraging: he could be finished in weeks. But the tone of the post suggests it might come in even longer than that, so factoring in the week he's spending on the TV show set, we might be looking at completion around New Year's for publication in the summer.
I think the February date was always extremely optimistic, although in that case it was GRRM's editor who suggested that might be possible.

Would anyone else besides myself gladly give up the TV series for faster completion of the books?

I don't see how that would be relevent. If they canceled he might get disheartened.

Better that he be disheartened for a few weeks than have him spend months on scriptwriting, etc.

I'm also guessing this means there's little chance of resolving the cliffhangers from Feast.

I'm starting to lose interest. It's hard to stay excited for years when aFfC sucked balls. *NM*
