the e's are short, the r is a short voiced uvular trill (almost like a stop), and the ai is a long a, you do not pronounce the last e. it's a french name, apparently the name of some big-ass ship. pretend you're making fun of jacques cousteau (who is awesome) and fake his accent and you should get it right.

these books are lovely. really lovely. i have read all of them so far... the culture and nature of a world with dragons is well thought out and novik anticipates some of the problems of her world very beautifully. sometime laurence is kind of a dumbass about things, but if you read historical fiction with dudes like him, he is fairly representative of dudes like him from those times. means novik does her homework
