View original postI read a fun one called Holy Shit: A Brief History of Swearing in July. It was quite engaging. If you're asking more along the lines of whether I read things that you might expect to see in a Wal-Mart, the answer is generally NO. I finished Wheel of Time and read A Dance with Dragons (likely my last read of a George Martin book as the TV series is better and will likely finish far earlier), and I read a few of Brandon Sanderson's books, but SF/Fantasy is mostly too derivative and stupid and if I'm going to slum it up I'm far more likely to do so by watching TV or a movie of that sort rather than waste precious reading time on it.
I feel essentially the same. I'm not quite sure how I can love horrible movies, but have almost zero patience for crappy books. As for Butcher, I agree that they are horribly written - they somehow made it past my buffer. I do not suggest you try again.
Book club has forced a couple mainstream books on me, and I could barely power through. Brida is possibly the worst thing I've ever read.
Uh oh. I accidentally went a little crazy with my e-book purchases.

If that's crazy, I need to be in a padded cell over my real book purchases.

If you get around to Les Liaisons Dangereuses, do chime in on that.

Yes I do! Inspired by the Pennsylvania Deutsch, who disregard modern amenities like state borders!

I've only read the Brown book, but I enjoyed it. I'd be interested in seeing a review by you. *NM*

Apparently, you'll remember the content better if you read from the hard copy.
