Regarding medicine, or some sort of medical treatment that didn't belong, either. I can't remember exactly where it was, but I remember it being jarring.

I remember that sticking out. I get that the idea is that this society is more scientifically and medically advanced. But that just doesn't come out consistently, especially with the kind of weaponry we see. Barring sharplate/blades, other weaponry is incredibly medieval for a world that understands principles of gravity and know enough to differentiate types of epilepsy.

Without actually having read any of his non-WoT books, I'd argue it's probably a deliberate choice.
