I know I didn't get any prior notification (only a few hits from the newspaper's Jacket Copy blog) when the LA Times in 2011 quoted a post of mine regarding a publisher sending a poorly-constructed set of guidelines to certain reviewers. I think the newspapers' blog sections function pretty much like blogs like Adam's or mine: we just link to something that interests us when we're writing a piece on something. No prior contact.
