I have different Sanskrit grammars and readers. Tom Send a noteboard - 02/02/2014 01:37:32 AM

I have Perry's Sanskrit Primer, as well as some awful-smelling books from India that are in exile in my basement right now. I have Kale's Grammar, which was also from India and no longer smells (it did when I bought it about 15 years ago, though) but the pages are still hideously warped like the book was dragged in a crate behind a trawler to find its way to the US.

I have to say the Indian-based ones are actually better, even though they smell bad (almost all books from India smell bad and are on warped, cheap paper; what that says about India I will refrain from stating).

I have the Flaubert and Montaigne in the Pleiade editions (I went back and bought the second volume of Flaubert because I'm anal retentive and needed to have completion).
For the record, the Montaigne is the 1595 edition and the spelling is quite antiquated and fun.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius

Ummaka qinnassa nīk!
