It's the best critical edition out there. The popular bilingual one is bad in lots of ways (wrong ordering of books because it was translated by a Protestant who put the Apocrypha at the end and ordered the other books in the Protestant order), the translation is wonky and it doesn't have variant readings. I started with that one to spot-check my translation and cast it aside in irritation (and also because I don't need to look up THAT many words).

I presume that it might be the one you're referring to (it does all of the irritating things you mention). I'll try to budget money later for the edition you suggested.
