I used to think he was just a mediocre writer and lumped his books in under the heading of mind numbing tripe that I might read when I had nothing better to do, until I stumbled accross his blog.

EGADS, his arrogance, unwarrented arrogance, just blew me away. When he started bragging about his weaknesses in plotting and world building as being strengths the level of spin caused me motion sickness and I haven't touched anything he has written or could possibly benefit from (his REALLY crappy TV show)since.
