I think as long as I don't put "criteria", I should indeed be forgiven. I don't think there's any modern European language that is entirely consistent in these things, anyway, they all apply Greek/Latin grammar in some cases but not in others (e.g. "musea" which is the standard plural in Dutch but considered as pedantic and affected in English to the best of my knowledge), and remembering which language uses which Greek/Latin word how is probably nobody's priority when learning a foreign language.
That said, point taken, I believe I've encountered the discussion about which word to use before, and it does seem clear I should've used "criterion". And I do aim to write perfect English, so it's appreciated when mistakes are pointed out.
