It's a German novel about a virus which slowly kills all men while being harmless to women. So far (a couple of hundred pages in), it's just backstories of various female characters who I assume are intended to be archetypes, but their lack of depth and the exaggerations in the differences between men and women ("oh yeah, there is no electricity anymore of course, because no woman in her right mind would ever work in a power plant, nevermind the oil industry" are rather irritating me.
Still holding out hope that things will get better and clichés subverted once the various plotlines meet up in the "present", though.
