"I only care about killing Murgos"
"Oh Hettar! I love you"
"Oh, ok. Erm... maybe I love you too. Anyway, back to hating Murgos"

I guess one benefit to Eddings habit of making it clear chapters if not books in advance what the big reveal will be is that by the time it happens its so damn expected go through the motions and details is redundant. The urge to reach into the book and grab Garion and go "You're the prophesied sorcerer king with a badass sword who is supposed to try to kill a God you moron!" is often overwhelming. It's almost relieving that after Adara leaves huge hints to the readers in book 4 [which Garion totally misses as always] the actually situation resolves itself very quickly, if unrealistically.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.

I guess, but they also learn not to take her too seriously at times like those. - 30/03/2013 09:18:10 PM 716 Views
True, but the fact that they indulge her at all irritates me - 31/03/2013 03:18:37 AM 770 Views
I think you're forgetting David wasn't the only Eddings writing those books - 29/03/2013 05:14:55 PM 780 Views
I liked the "secondary" female characters a lot, actually - 30/03/2013 06:50:07 PM 708 Views
The problem was the longer the secondary's stuck around the more Mary Sue they became - 30/03/2013 09:10:57 PM 742 Views
Yeah, the Hettar thing was pretty random, wasn't it - 31/03/2013 03:20:22 AM 736 Views

True, although I feel Polgara (in her own series) and Aphrael hold up well enough even in rereads. - 30/03/2013 09:12:31 PM 772 Views
Polgara the Sorceress was maybe a bit late, but Aphrael is a ffair example - 30/03/2013 10:16:26 PM 959 Views
