You might want to click here and got to TVTropes lisitng of media featuring big rats, I'm sure it isn't comprehensive but you might luck out.
Thanks, that's a good tip! Will check it out.
Other big one, you say you checked it out when you were 12-13 but for me that would say the book was written prior to 1993 or so, you don't have your age/year up and it's not on your profile either. If you're older then me, then it narrows down the options a lot, if you're younger then odds favor your library was computerized by then and it may be that they'd have a record of your check-outs and might be willing and able to assist.
I'll be 30 this year so I must have read it around 95-96 I think... I'm not sure about the library, maybe maybe not. Maybe they have something online now but I doubt they'll have migrated all their old data. Besides, I haven't had a library card in years.
It also sounds like YA Sci-fi, though that's hard to be sure about, but there's a lot less of that and was proportionally even less in the past, and if it wasn't written in Norwegian to begin with while it doesn't have to be a bestseller it isn't likely to have been a minor book, alternative if it is native Norwegian it can't be a very big pool.
Yeah I know. Thing is that it could easily have been translated from Swedish or Danish but not released outside of Scandinavia. Which makes it that much harder.
I'll definitely try the things you said though. Messing around on library websites should be fun, and if I don't find something that's at least an excuse to go to the library.

Just because of tri -angles/-pods? I don't remember triangles really being significant.
