He'd plot out a book in detail then take a bunch of drugs and write a book in one sitting. I don't know how true that story is, but it was quite entertaining.
That actually sounds pretty accurate. Read an Elric anthology out of curiosity and it's pretty psychedelic. Very weird, weirdly entertaining, very pulpy, and I can see how it's influenced a lot of the authors who read it. Not something I'll pick up again in a hurry though. Too much angst, and psychedelia doesn't usually appeal to me.
I remember Neil Gaiman did a shorty story called "A boyhood furnished in early Moorcock" or something similar though.

Don't listen to him. It's a horribly boring book. Couldn't finish it *NM*

Seems most of these Elric books don't go far beyond a hundred pages, so yeah... *NM*

Yeah. I don't really like fantasy but I know of the Elric series. It's well written, so they say. *NM*

I like the series, but I wouldn't use "well-written" to describe the 1960s-1970s books
