And if you like history, you'll see that both Tom and myself just wrote very enthusiastic reviews about two quite different history books, perhaps one of those sounds interesting to you too? In the top three of 2012 post, Tom also mentioned The Proud Tower by Barbara Tuchmann, which is also excellent (basically about Europe in the quarter century before WW1).
...I read A Distant Mirror a few years ago and it was great. It's about the Dark Ages. I have The Proud Tower so I'll give that a go next.
