It can be a tough read in the begining but the payoff is worth it.

I'm almost done with the first chapter. I have to say it, though: I don't know if I'm going to be able to get through this. If there is one thing in fiction that drives me crazy, it's jumping POVs mid-chapter, much less mid-paragraph, which has now happened twice. If this keeps up, I might lose it.
Since Herbert's son has written the prequels and sequesl (using his fathers massive notes and outlines) you might want to actually start with his books, and go through the series in order. They really do all tie in together and tell a complete story that spans thousands of years. Much like Star Wars, the books that were first released are actually the middle of the story.
