Needless to say, once I finish reading the Icewind Dale trilogy, I'm done with D&D

Because if I remember, the reader was pretty much knocked over the head with Raistlin's change to evil.
I only read what Dunja "suggested" to me, if I wanted to understand her fascination with Raistlin. Considering she thinks this particular trilogy is the "pinnacle" of D&D, I shudder to consider how bad the other novels in this setting are
CHRONICLES is literally a succession of game modules - 15 of them, I believe - turned into three books. However, they didn't have space in the novels to cover them, so you have these slightly odd bits where major chunks of plot happen off-screen between chapters.
My abiding memory of the trilogy is a sequence in which the characters meet some gnomes who lived in fear of a fake dragon made of wicker and their female leader fell in love with Raistlin. It was a particularly random storyline.
Also, LEGENDS is definitely not the pinnacle of D&D fiction. The best piece of D&D fiction is PLANESCAPE: TORMENT, which as a computer game probably falls outside your remit (though worth a look as it is probably the single most literary computer game ever written, bar none). Lynn Abbey's novel I mentioned earlier is also quite a lot better.
Interesting backstory to the older trilogy and to what may be better than Legends. I'd have to ask her if she's played the computer game or read this other book; I suspect not for the former and don't know for the latter.
