The movie was far better than the book & I never prefer the movie

Have you read it? What did you think about it?
I found the movie riveting and rich. Usually the book is better. Is this so in this case?
I watched the movie on the Bravo channel and I suspect they edited out some language and violence which, for me, made it that much more impressive and ...palatable. I think that graphic violence would have detracted from the movie in my case. As it was I was left thinking but without ugly scenes I wanted to scrub out of my mind.
I have only read tiny bits and pieces of Stephen King and don't know what to expect from his books.
Are the GFT or NGFT?

I read a lot of Stephen King, and almost without exception prefer the books to the movies. The Shawshank Redemption was & is still, IMO, the best film from his works and I still liked the short story better. The Green Mile was written as a serial novel, however, and there are a lot of flaws in the execution of the concept, giving us a bit of a clue why the serial novel thing never caught on, even though IIRC there were a bunch released aroudn that time by different authors, which some people seemed to think might be a new trend. The movie was more coherent, though it glossed over some stuff, and was fairly true to the book.

I watched the movie "The Green Mile" last night on TV. I am thinking about reading the book.
