It is sad, though in all fairness he hasn't written anything good lately (and, according to people like me, you could edit out "lately" from that sentence).
As a human being, regardless of the quality of his prose, I am sad that someone who has been hailed as a talented writer is suffering from dementia.

No, I believe he wrote a few really good stories, but it's been about a quarter century since his last classic. But dementia is a sneaky bastard, much worse than cancer in my opinion.
