I wouldn't be surprised if The Stand took me a month to read and put together. It's almost twice as big as anything he'd written before. I'm going to try for three weeks, but we'll see. I read so much stuff at once that I feel bad if I just bear down and focus on one book.
I can't read more than one book and be really invested. I have to focus on just one.
If I'm only reading one book I find I read less overall and I'm more likely to not finish it (though I still finish most). But when I'm reading lots at the same time I tend to enjoy them more and get through them at an even pace.
Right now I'm reading The Stand, a history book about geology, a Dresden Files book (while I exercise), a geography book (also during exercise), and the first volume of the Annotated Sherlock Holmes (during lunch at work).

I've read a lot of King short stories, but these don't seem familiar.
