I've had that book sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read, for years. I keep putting off reading it. It could have something to do with the last book of Faulkner's that I read, The Sound and the Fury. I found that book extremely difficult to follow, dampening any desire to read Light in August. Was the stream of consciousness as confusing in this book, or is it more reminiscent of As I Lay Dying? Your description of the book makes the narrative sound interesting so maybe I'll need to consider reading this book soon.
