Probably for the same reason you have so many translations of the Bible.

I do have the originals, but different translations end up being different interpretations, I think. At least in the case of the Greek, where I'm not good enough yet to settle on an established translation. For Kant it's because I simply don't know German aside from his technical terms, though I am planning on rectifying that.
That's about it. The secondary literature is countless, though. I really spent way too much. I also love Intro/Summary books for Philosophy and all the great philosophers as well, so I have hundreds of those. I always love the little cartoon books.
Studying the history of religion can make these things creep up on you. I was watching "The Simpsons" episode where Bart and Lisa had to stay with Flanders and Flanders asked them which Bible they wanted to use for the Flanders Bible trivia game.
I realized - I have more versions of the Bible than Flanders did in the episode.
