I've read a few of Goldsworthy's other works but I haven't read this or Caesar. I'll definitely have to add them to my list.

I really enjoyed Goldsworthy's "In the Name of Rome" which is an overview of the greatest Roman generals. It goes in chronological order starting with the Punic Wars (if I remember correctly) and ending with Justinian's reconquest headed by Belisarius. It was a very interesting read, both in learning more about generals I was already familiar with and becoming acquainted with those with which I was less familiar.
