You see him in The Hero of Ages, for example, as a mysterious beggar/informer whom Vin decides on a whim--or something more--not to talk to.
The Cosmere is one of the more intriguing aspects of Sanderson's works, in my opinion. It's very interesting to see Mistborn and Elantris references in the chapter headings of Way of Kings:
"Ati was once a kind and generous man, and you saw what became of him."
