As seems to be the general case, judging by the other responses.

Initially I had to read to learn english, rather than for the enjoyment of reading a good book. But over time the former stopped being a reason, but I kept reading anyway, this time because I liked it. Though in large part, that is thanks to books like Lord of the Rings and Wheel of Time. Before them, I'm not sure I was too into books, or at least not more than any elementary school child.
