Absolutely yes. I loved the series. One of my favorites.

It's a bit bleak, and has it's slow points, but I thought the series as a whole was excellent. Probably not for everyone, but it's hard to judge that after just the first book, which is far and away the worst of the series.
If you're halfway through the second book and still not enjoying it, then you should drop it. But I think that is unlikely.
