How did this happen so fast? Why does no one seem to be resisting? Why the hell doesn't the rest of the world seem to be like "hmm well this is STRANGE (in a bad way"??
Still, I thought it was a pretty interesting book to read anyway. Worth my time
But yah, there were definitely some leaps made that required you to just "go with it".
Yeah I suppose there are plenty of things in books that you just have to accept, especially with fantasy and whatnot, so maybe I'm expecting a bit too much treating it like it should all be realistic because it's kinda easy to imagine something like that happening. Have you seen the film The Wave?

It might've been a better novel if she'd modeled it closer on Iran, then.
