Then, some time during my master's I realised it wasn't a good idea. I had wild cravings. But when I finished it, I did not want to read anything. It was rather horrible. I had barely read anything new that had not been for analysis and that I had to read for years, and reading just didn't seem relaxing anymore. I actually had to reaccustom myself to reading. So these days I read other books on the side. I learnt my lesson.
Exactly. Spending my whole day reading just discourages me from reading any more during my free time. I think when my exams end in 2 months I will have to train myself back.
That being said, maybe it's all a question of finding the right book. I keep persisting in trying to read books that I could have read for "pleasure" in high school, meaning Kundera and Malraux, and that's not working. On the other hand I managed to get through P&P & Zombies in about a week, because it was so ridiculous that it really did feel fun. I should just stick to lighter stuff for now, perhaps.

Are you a "monogamous" reader, as it were?

Usually monogamous, except when it comes to exceedingly boring books.

For the most part. Not always, but then it usually ends up with me divorcing the first book. *NM*
