I had read the book but until now not watched the movie.
I would write reams of review however, all I really have to say is that the movie, while giving it a good effort, falls very short of the book. I think Jackson completely misses the point of author Sebold's in-your-face style, and the tale becomes just another Hollywood screenplay that borders on the formulaic.
