I believe Lena Heady was pregnant when they filmed the original pilot, back when Tamzin Merchant was playing Dany. I recall reading that they used a body double for the scene with Cersei and Jaime in the tower. Makes me doubt that her pregnancy was the reason for the way they shot that scene when they refilmed everything.
How did the appearance of the arakhs differ from the book?
I myself have not been that happy with the costuming. Lannister Red (on the show) looks more like I would assume Tully Red looks (darker, muddier red, instead of a bright crimson scarlet red). To me the colors of the clothing and banners weren't as bright of colors as I always imagined from reading the books. I also didn't like the fact that they redesigned all of the house sigils, especially what they did to the Stark direwolf sigil. Looks like a scaled wolfish critter.
Other than that, I agree with the rest of what you wrote
Yeah, Myrcella and Tommen are shown in the TV show, albeit briefly.
Yeah, I think the whole scene with the two whores in King's Landing was egregious. I love me some naked women and even some softcore lipstick lesbianism, but it just felt out of place.
Well, this was done for a specific reason. For Cersei and Jaime, it's because Lena Headey was pregnant during the scene, and they had to make sure to disguise her midsection. For Dany and Drogo, it's becaus that's how the Dothraki actually do things.
HBO is being very careful about rape, because of the social issues attached to it. Notice that they didn't show any Lamb Women being raped during the Dothraki raid either, although they did talk about it.
Yeah, they definitely took liberties with the Dothraki, including their diversity of skintone, mannerisims, and even the appearance of the arakh.
Hmm, I hadn't noticed that for some reason. Intersting.
I hadn't noticed anything like that. If there's one thing I thought was spot-on for the whole TV show, it was costuming.

2. Well it took us longer to meet the Stark children in the book...and Cersi had children other than joff? Eh..where they even in the show?
Yeah, Myrcella and Tommen are shown in the TV show, albeit briefly.
3. Hbo really did sex this up more than I thought they had. The nudity when they received the message from the eyrie shouldn't really have been titillating and there really wasn't much more of it than that.
Yeah, I think the whole scene with the two whores in King's Landing was egregious. I love me some naked women and even some softcore lipstick lesbianism, but it just felt out of place.
4. I suppose most of the sex we saw was doggy style because it allowed us to see the actors faces? Most of it it in the book was not like that at all..

5. WOW did my memory and HBO do a disservice to Dannery's first time with Drogo. I remembered it as basically being rape and HBO certainly showed it that way but it really wasn't. Yes she didn't get to choose who she married but Drogo was actually very sensitive and caring much more so than in the show.
HBO is being very careful about rape, because of the social issues attached to it. Notice that they didn't show any Lamb Women being raped during the Dothraki raid either, although they did talk about it.
6. Drogo's people also come off as a much stranger mixture of civilized and uncivilized in the book. I can't see the dathraki as portrayed in the show as ever being able to put on nice silks and perfume...
Yeah, they definitely took liberties with the Dothraki, including their diversity of skintone, mannerisims, and even the appearance of the arakh.
7. In the show didn't the Stark wife not want him to accept the hand position and he have to convince her to let him take it? Exact opposite of that in the book which makes everything that happens that much more tragic.
Hmm, I hadn't noticed that for some reason. Intersting.
8. Maybe I am to used to Jordan but I remembered clothes being described more than they seemed to be. One of the things early on that bothered me about the show was that I thought the clothes were not ornate enough (especially Sansa's). The clothes that are described though are very non ornate so they may have been right.
I hadn't noticed anything like that. If there's one thing I thought was spot-on for the whole TV show, it was costuming.
Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
