I have recently started reading GRRM mostly because I liked the show and my son has been nagging me to try them. I like the Tyrion chapters the best in part because I found his character the most believable and with the most depth but in part because the tone seemed to change more for him. I like the books but I do wish he would either get a lot better at writing from children's POV or stop doing it. I wonder if the man has actually met a child.

The second one was good (Towers of Suset, IIRC). I read until about book 6-7. They were okay.
