In the past before getting rid of the 5 year gap Martin stated there were 3 epochs
A) A Game of Thrones / War of the Five Kings which ended with the Red Wedding/Purple Wedding/Death of Tywin Lannister
B) The Dance of Dragons where Dany arrives in Westeros
C) The Winds of Winter
By my count we are still not done with part B (though the 5 year gap is killed so who knows the new plan). Thus I don't think 2 books will be enough to finish B and do C
