It's a bummer. I have loved Borders for years.

But it is also kind of their own fault, they totally ignored the beginnings of the ebook revolution and took way too long to get into it. They lost tons of business to people who wanted to get e-readers and couldn't find them there so went for Amazon or B&N instead. Even when they caught up they made the mistake of offering a cheap reader thinking that the low price would attract customers. Instead it came across as cheap and people didn't buy them. Add tot hat the advertising frenzy by B&N and all anybody could talk about this past holiday was Nook.
Sucks. I have always loved Borders over B&N but even I had to admit the writing was on the wall. I will sorely miss Borders.

But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...

Yeah, I just got their email. I'll be visiting the NYC stores to get some books and DVD sets.
