The rest of the novel builds really well. That being said, the book is the first of 10, and is really sort of the prequel that kicks into the major events of the series. Sanderson is taking his time, building characters, and elements that will play large roles in the overall story.
It all comes together rather awesomely in the last 1/2 of the novel. Still, the exiting elements to the story seem to suggest that the real story is only just beginning at the end of the book. My reaction was... holy crap! All this and the shit is only just now going to start hitting the fan?
