The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon Comet Sedai Send a noteboard - 27/05/2011 03:50:45 AM
Similar story...there I was in an airport, waiting for a flight, and bookless. The Horror!

I think that the most I knew of this book was that had been on a best-seller list.

I was hooked from the start. The way the chapter numbers were all primes. The writing style--the book is from the POV of a teenaged boy with Asperger's syndrome. It is a great book, and highly recommended, and I might never have picked it up if I hadn't been irritatingly bookless at the time. I'm glad I was!

I also read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman without nothing much of anything other than it was recommended as a stand-alone novel on a good ol' Wotmania thread. Wow. But as it came recommended, it wasn't as unexpected a find as Curious Incident was.
The chief difficulty Alice found at first was in managing her flamingo.
