This post is largely due to thoughts generated from reading a few comments at this site in recent days. This is not meant to be a piss-measuring contest, but rather something that might encourage increased curiosity. Here goes:
1. Try to name up to five spec fic novels released in 2010-2011.
Wolfe - the Sorcerer's House
Bacigalupi - the windup girl
Miéville - Kraken
Sedia - House of discarded dreams
and take your pick from all the series stuff /bakker/erikson/esslemont/cash/rothfuss/
2. What about up to five spec fic anthologies?
Nope
3. Can you identify without looking it up at least two of the Hugo nominees for Best Novel?
Nope
4. What about the Nebula Award?
Nope
5. Do you feel that you are relatively well-informed on spec fic novels, especially the newer ones?
Not really. I pay attention, but I do not keep an active search up - too busy with other stuff.
6. Which authors (or genre categories) would you like to know more about?
See, there's a problem here. If I want to know more about someone, I buy a book and read it. On occasion I look at reviews first, but it is mostly reviews about stuff I haven't heard about which can make me interested in something new. So I guess, authors I haven't heard of?
7. Which spec fic-oriented blogs can you name and/or have visited?
eh, usual suspects... yours, pat's, wertzone, the one you contributed to with the masterworks. I am not really much of a blog reader.
