This novel is broken into three parts here (I don't know if they do that everywhere ... ) The first and last 3rds are much more entertaining than the middle I found.
They're split almost everywhere (up to five books in some editions), but in France traditionally they're always published under the original title (as either LVdB partie 1,2 etc. or tome 1,2 etc., while it seems to be the exception in some languages, notably English. It's somewhat confusing, as the various English editions don't always cover the same chapters under the same titles...
