I'm really liking the fact that the Long Price Quartet is a 'finished' series. Sir Tybalt Send a noteboard - 09/05/2011 02:13:47 PM
THE LONG PRICE QUARTET is excellent, but not very like GRRM (apart from the melancholic angle). It's a bit more akin to Guy Gavriel Kay, though more epic than most of Kay's work with a fascinating take on magic.

His new fantasy novel, THE DRAGON'S PATH, is a strong opener to a new series. It's a mixture of traditional ideas and some interesting new angles, like the fact that a major faction is a bank that holds the purses of many of the kingdoms in its grasp.

He also has a new SF novel, LEVIATHAN'S WAKE (under the name James S.A. Corey), which is absolutely superb. Great, old-school space opera fun.

I just purchased A Shadow in Summer for my Nook and it is at the top of my 'to read' shelf! I just finished a book last night that needs to settle a little and then I can't wait to dig in to Daniel Abraham!
