mainly that it felt ... cold? to me. This may very possibly be put down to the translator. Things sometimes felt a little flat.
But I did thoroughly enjoy the different voices of the miniature painters, and trying to find out who the murderer was from that.
And I liked all the information about the period. I knew so little about it to begin with.
Could it be that you associate My Name is Red and The Name of the Rose because both have "Name" as one of the two key works, and the other word is short and starts with an R?
