I did a comparative exercise once, where I compared Eco in Italian to Eco in English translation. I found the Italian more easy going than I had expected. That said, those were all books I had already read. I am not sure how well I would do with an all new one.

and then there's the fact you wouldn't have an English translation alongside it this time. :P
