But lots of people have given up following his blog because he rarely talked about the book. And, much more to the point, last year he put up a picture of the ADWD cover and a message saying "'Nuff said," then got annoyed when people thought it meant ADWD was done and that he'd 'unambiguously' announce when it was done and the announcement would 'not need parsing'.

This did need parsing, it needed a clarifying post from his editor on the Del Rey website and so on. I agree that anyone who's covered the story and followed the blog will know immediately what's happened, but those more removed from it are bemused. Not a biggie - the book is done and that's the important thing - and it's peversely appropriate that not even this news could be delivered without there being a cock-up.
