Especially in the realm of music -- trying to learn how music has developed, beefing up on old bands to understand their influence, and trying to here what's going on now is totally impossible. As the article points out, too, the access to more music and the fact that anyone can make an album in their garage/bedroom cheaply nowadays, makes the load of music to sift through incomprehensible.
