Why? You know I like Ishiguro. To be fair, though, I was also worried I wouldn't.
I agree with you that there is no need to worry about spoiling the main theme of the book. It's obvious quite early on. (Also: who would pretend she was just a nurse?)
I am not sure anyone sets out to give that impression, but when you describe someone as "carer" and don't give any real hints about the sinister nature of it all, that is where my mind leaps.
It's definitely a story that stays with you and makes you think. I don't like it as much as The Remains of the Day but it is glorious.
Yes. I think perhaps Remains of the Day is one I am more likely to reread than this.
