I like thieves. Any recommendations? Kallichore Send a noteboard - 05/04/2011 02:10:20 PM
Scott Lynch's Locke Lamora and Megan Whalen Turner's Eugenides/Gen in The Thief, The Queen of Attolia etc have given me a craving for thievery, cunning and low-level law-breaking. Not personally, but in my reading materials, obviously. :D

Can you recommend any books with thieves as main/central characters? I've already been recommended Among Thieves by Douglas Hulick but I'd like as many suggestions as I can possibly get!

I'm not going to include pirates or assassins in this because they seem pretty distinct to me - you could argue that they're thieves on the sea or that they steal lives (!) but they are a separate type of character, if you get my meaning. Unless you know of any particularly brilliant ones (Retribution Falls was mentioned, which is great, and I have Tim Powers' On Stranger Tides in my TBR pile). I like pirates too. Can't go wrong with a good pirate.

Any graphic novel/movie recommendations also welcomed.

Mistborn stars an ex-thief, and the first book is centered around the "grand heist" premise. - 05/04/2011 09:53:40 PM 664 Views
