It always astounds me that the developers at Valve aren't hanging from street lamps outside their HQ Werthead Send a noteboard - 25/03/2011 09:07:56 PM
(nothing to do with Minecraft, but an interesting situation anyway):

"Yeah, HALF-LIFE 3 is going to be really huge and we don't want people to wait so we're splitting the game into three episodes and they'll all be out in 18 months after HL2 comes out."

18 months later.

"Erm, yeah, that didn't quite work out, but here's Episode 1 at least!"

18 months after that.

"Gosh, this is taking longer than expected, here's Episode 2 anyway (and check out this cool side-project called PORTAL and hey we're resurrecting our old TEAM FORTRESS franchise from years back)."

1 year after that.

"Hey, check out this new game called LEFT 4 DEAD! It's awesome! Sorry, Episode what now?"

1 year after that.

"And now our next new game, which we know you've all be waiting for for a really long time...LEFT 4 DEAD 2!"

18 months after that.

"And now for our new game...PORTAL 2! Episode 3? What are you talking about?"

And most Valve fans don't even seem to be that annoyed by it. Weird.
