I enjoyed the book but I don't think his prose were as good as Jordan's

Donaldson has great prose but his stories are very dark and some find him hard to read. Robert Charles Wilson also has great characters and prose but he is more scfi. I think it is better to give a writer a chance and be disappointed then it is to pass a writer up because he might not be good enough. You should be able tell if you like the prose just reading a few random passages.

Erikson's books are fantastic, but the characterization could not be more different than WoT's.

Honestly, they kind of remind me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, if Giles was the main character.
